My name is Si Chen. I’m from China, and now studying visual art at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Visual communication fascinates me, and painting and sculpture provide me the proper medium to create effective visual language. I like to create my work in a very loose concept.
Mostly I intend to express some intense emotion through out my work to evoke some strong reaction from the audience and lay effects on their thoughts, and make the viewers reflect on their life experiences. So sometimes my work may seem a little aggressively disturbing. I consider art as a form of expression rather than a tool of decoration. And I aim to bring visual challenges to the viewer, because to me art is an intellectural communication and it also has the ability to change the world we live in, in a age of vision commodity.
